Beatitudes 05:09
Blessed are the wanderers for they are never lost They're just a 'cicle on the windowsill Some rain frozen in time Blessed are the truly free who see without a lens The love that eventually created me has found me once again You must be fine with adoration 'cause the day's not gonna come When those who view you as the 'old you' see the 'new you' as your home You must be crazy I'm not erasing a single second from this period of time I'm not your nemesis I'm your friend but still you insist on lies Got a body full of baggage and a soul that's full of song But it's the wrong song Blessed are the poor, the meek, the humble, and the brave And fuck those who don't practice what they preach from day to day Blessed are the pure in heart 'cause one day they'll see God It's no surprise to me That's exactly what those fuckers have forgot
2.
Lineage 05:27
Okay let's conjure up some issues that might get my juices flowing But unlike last time let's forget the steps that take us where we're going Instead we'll speak in images and snapshots of subconscious And try like hell to trace our lineage to dust on distant comets Bloom like an orchid on a jungle tree Let's bicker with each other over trivial nothings And roll around with feet-in-mouth like ouroboros circus rings We'll defend freedom, race, religion, civil rights, hope or change But there's no meaning in these phrases copy written by a craze Smile like an orphan on a cloudy day Always looking forward because the past is too hard to look past My life ain't an hourglass Drawn into the cosmos by a kind of insatiable mind I'm overwhelmed and feeling fine Forget every mundane detail like what tie to wear to mass Start dissecting our own bodies with a pocket knife or a shard of glass Then try to split an atom with the power of volition Prove to everyone around you that there's truth behind the vision Hope like the sun is gonna swallow me Take me to the very bottom Where matter is dissolved And the burning core that fuels the earth Erupts with glowing clocks
3.
That Demon 03:59
As the demons date divas the dogs get their bones And then right after supper they stumble back home Just to howl at the moon that hangs in the sky Like a coin sewn into the fabric of night And the hipsters sing carols in outdated clothes With opinions that flake like the ashes of cloves Then they realize they're burrows born just to carry weight As they hang from a cliff trying to plan their escape My grandmother was born on a bathroom floor My grandfather almost died while he worked in the mines Well my dad he got his start with a hole in his heart But I...? Feel the soft rub of a blanket on my childish feet While I lie here alone trying to catch up on sleep There's the hum of a fan and a drip from the sink Keeping time with my brain as I try not to think But I wanna track down that demon that don't get the bone Just to tell that ol' demon to leave me alone
4.
War Crimes 03:33
I'll forgive them their war crimes So they can live to take some more lives So they can entertain your scoreboard minds With acts of violence, threats of war So if you've got issues you can go grab a box of tissues But I can't cry a river wide enough that could purify you all So you've fallen from grace But why the sorry look on your face? Don't you know that people float on an endless wave? And if you know me by now Why'd it take so long to figure out That to know me by my face is to know my name? So come on and give back to the ones you've often laughed at To your son or daughter's backpack Something simple they can teach You can call it important or an exercise in bullshit One with epic-sized proportions Like the dinners they will eat So if you've got a disease Wouldn't it be best if you've gave it to me? 'Cause I feed off people's nightmares when they're asleep And you don't know me at all unless you've reread my story out loud And confirmed the lesson learned might set you free That's when you've blessed me

The Virgin Mary faked a smile As she held her newborn child She saw the miracle of life But couldn't like Him in the eyes His daddy was a charming man A looker with a master plan He told He'd never leave He'd just be infinitely harder to see But she could always depend on him to help her with her biggest problems Like how to raise the son of God properly But Jesus found his calling card And his fair share of followers He led them to a simpler life And never wavered when he told the 'goodbye' But as he waited on the cross He calculated all the cost And benefits of giving his life As an instrument to forces divine "Why should I accept the penance for the sinful disposition of all the men, the women, and the children who are born to die?" I never went to Sunday mass Never took a Bible class I wasn't baptized, recognized, or confirmed I wasn't into preaching the word But I did read a verse or two And there were brilliant moral truths But for each there was a sinister line A priest deceiving or minister lying I don't need no one to tell me how I live my life So keep your favorite axioms And get a tattoo on your arm But don't you push it on nobody else Your spirit's something you should keep to yourself But if you think you got it right Claim you've seen some kinda light Well good for you I hope you're happier now But as for me I keep my feet on the ground But if you truly believe I hope you don't end up regretting anything 'Cause you won't ever get to Heaven We won't ever get to Heaven Where the Hell is it, man? Who gave us such bad directions?

The traffic laws caught up to us in Amarillo as the Highway State Patrol told me to slow down my tempo "You kids are far away from home, tell me, where ya headed?" "Officer, we're not quite sure. Just help us get the hell out of Texas" So we drove on down the road to Albuquerque But we didn't stop for long We found the city unnerving We saw the fate of the natives and felt shameful So we escaped another state, an understatement But really, where could we go to get away from the world? We are the heirs of unfair privilege but we're too scared to say so Will this playing field ever be leveled? We scratched our heads as we sped through the desert Six miles to the meteor crater The interstate can wait We came to meet our creator We saw the sign but we shrugged off the warnings "We're out of time, please come back in the morning" Denial at the thumbprint of a savior She smiled and waved I shot a snide "see you later" to the woman working gate We were fifteen minutes too late But really how can you close a two-mile hole left by a cosmic crusader so many light-years ago But as we rode together on that fault line She told me light-years measure distance, not time 500 feet deep carved out for giants to sleep a bed in dead Arizona with an indefinite lease We saw a thick cloud of smoke and blue fire rise from a bowl and a cigarette lighter We smoked the bones 'neath the funeral pyre It was the closest we came to feeling inspired

We come from family trees that don't bare any leaves Just branches and birds Once the fruit stop sharing their seeds There will be nothing to eat For our boys and girls So now I wanna find out if I really grew from this sickly tree Help me cut it down We can count out loud the rings 'Cause we are the ones that need the help We are the ones that don't think for ourselves Who's gonna write our history? We are the ones that need the help We are the ones that don't fight for ourselves Who's gonna read our history? In the sprawling suburbs the mallrat lovers are crawling all in the street Bedroom walls are covered with album covers It all makes sense to me 'Cause we're small We're barely at all We never evolve or act differently Help me turn around I've forgotten how to think 'Cause we are the ones that need the help We are the ones that don't think for ourselves Who's gonna write our history? We are the ones that need the help We are the ones that don't fight for ourselves Who's gonna read our history? If you take loving the world like a beautiful girl, it's so interesting 'Cause her skies would be blue and she'd smell of perfume And her riverbed would be so tempting But no We treat her with lust We do what must to take everything Help me hold her down I wanna hear how loud she screams 'Cause we are the ones that need the help We are the ones that don't think for ourselves Who's gonna write our history? We are the ones that need the help We are the ones that don't fight for ourselves Who's gonna read our history? We are the ones that need the help Who's gonna write our history?
